Why this phrase
Myth: bought it, so it's mine to eat whenever. Truth: from 1 November the discount stops at the till, you pay full price, and the tax only comes back at the airport once they've seen the goods are leaving with you. Anything you eat, or open for consumption, inside Japan is not refundable. So the sealed bag isn't paperwork, it's the whole point: keep the snacks sealed until you're on the plane.
