Why this phrase
Kofuku plays the customer at a konbini oden counter; Hana plays the clerk. Train the ear on one line of counter keigo: 「からしはお付けしますか?」, i.e. would you like mustard with that. The viewer must leave with two sayable answers: 「お願いします」 for yes, 「大丈夫です」 for no. ACCURACY GUARD from the Japanese verifier: do NOT teach this as an お〜しますか family. Only 「お付けしますか」 has that humble shape; 「温めますか」 is plain masu-form and 「袋はご利用ですか」 is a different, honorific construction. Generalise on the QUESTION TAIL instead: ますか or ですか at the end means it is a yes-or-no, and you can ignore the middle. TIMING GUARD: the oden rollout is staggered by chain (Lawson from late summer, FamilyMart around mid-September, Seven-Eleven from the end of September) and some stores no longer stock it at all, so say the tub is BACK, never 'every register'. TONE GUARD: oden is delicious. Affectionate bafflement at the tub of mystery skewers, never disgust.
