To say Please pay over there. in Japanese, say あちらでお願いします (achira de onegai shimasu).
She scanned your whole basket, said one word, and pointed past your shoulder. That's not goodbye. That's an instruction.

Why this phrase
Japanese supermarkets and drugstores have quietly split the checkout in two: staff scan your stuff, then you pay at a separate terminal a couple of steps away. First-timers stand at the register waiting for a total that is never coming. The line you'll hear is 「あちらでお願いします」, and 「あちら」 is reusable everywhere. One takeaway: 「あちらでお願いします」.
